2020 GRANTS

The Board of Directors, at its April 23 meeting, announced 2020 awards of $3650.00 for eight grants! The criteria for awarding project grant money includes community value and involvement in horticulture to make a difference, educational value where the funding makes a significant contribution, displays realistic goals and objectives, as well as a maintenance schedule, documents the project for GMGA and the community that instructs and informs so that others may benefit from the work funded and, utilizes as many Master Gardeners as possible.

In alphabetical order by County, below is a synopsis of each grant, the GMGA Master Gardener Project Manager, the amount, and the project description.

Red Top Mountain Middle School Garden Expansion. Expand from fruit tree garden to include vegetable, herbs and pollinator garden.


Chatham County (Janice Insley)

Native Plant Garden, Tybee Island Marine Center – Installation of Native Plant Garden at newly completed Marine Center.

Senior Centers Education – Funds for vegetable and flower seeds, containers and soil for seminars at both Senior Centers.

Center for Children and Young Adults - Expand existing gardening to include year-round gardening; project will fund additional plants.
