Attendees of the 2024 Annual Conference were exposed to amazing speakers, days of education, and a few unexpected gifts.

One of the highlights of the annual GMGA conference is finding out who was selected for the Award of Excellence! This special selection is made by GMGA and accompanied by a beautiful plaque and cash prize to a very deserving individual who coordinates a county MGEV program.

Once again, GMGA is offering the Award of Excellence in Consumer Horticulture. Applications will be accepted through September 1, 2024.

On Saturday morning, attendees arriving at the First Baptist Church Gainesville were given handsome black swag bags imprinted with the Conference logo and filled with goodies. They found vendor displays brilliant with plants, flowers, bulbs, birdhouses, stationery, and many other goods to delight a gardener’s heart.

The 2023 GMGA conference was a great success with the theme of Cultivating Our Gardens – Beauty, Wildlife & Edibles, in Gainesville, Hall County, on October 13 and 14.

The Georgia Master Gardener Association (GMGA) hosted its annual conference the first weekend in October. Part of the festivities is the presentation of the Award of Excellence to an Extension Agent who coordinates a county-level Master Gardener Extension Volunteer Program.

GMGA hosted a field trip to historic Oakland Cemetery in downtown Atlanta on November 15th. Twenty master gardeners broke into two groups and each had their own private tour guide to learn about the trees, plants and famous local residents of Oakland.

The story of the HOPE Gardens at Robin AFB continues. In Sept. 2020, Col. Brian Moore, the Robins Installation Commander joined with about two dozen team members in the dedication of the new H.O.P.E. Garden at Warner Robins.

A large group of GMGA members enjoyed the educational tour on Lake Lanier on September 20 with Jason Ulreth, the Chattahoochee Riverkeeper and Executive Director.

Once again, GMGA is offering the Award of Excellence in Consumer Horticulture. Applications will be accepted through September 1, 2023.

While the origin of this national day is not known, it’s a perfect opportunity to plan an event or create media materials to share our deep appreciation for pollinators with our communities.

It’s not often that we take the time to think about the impact we have on a daily, monthly, or yearly basis as the Georgia Master Gardener Association.

Once again, GMGA is offering the Award of Excellence in Consumer Horticulture. Applications will be accepted through September 2, 2020.

The GMGA Nominating Committee is presenting a slate of candidates to serve beginning January 1, 2022. You may vote for the entire slate or for individual candidates.

Melissa Mattee-Murphy, Agriculture and Natural Resources Agent in Fulton County, was chosen as the recipient of the 2021 Award of Excellence presented by the Georgia Master Gardener Association (GMGA).

Once again, GMGA is offering the Award of Excellence in Consumer Horticulture. Applications will be accepted through September 3, 2021.

The project is 200 square feet in area, with 100 native plants. It is the result of a partnership with The Victory Home Inc. and Headwaters Master Gardeners.
