“Keeping the Chatttahoochee; Reviving and Defending a Great Southern River” by Sally Sierra Bethea. The author was one of the first women in America to become a “river keeper,” working to protect rivers by monitoring waterways and addressing any sources of pollution. This book recounts many tales of her work over 20 years to restore the neglected Chattahoochee, which provides drinking water and recreation to millions of people as well as habitat for wildlife.
