Bethesda Senior Center, 225 Bethesda Church Road, Lawrenceville, GA. Guest Speaker Kathryn Kolb is Director of the EcoAddendum, which is non-profit organization that focuses on environmental education and conservation in the Southeast. She will explain the accidents of history that gave metro Atlanta its exceptional urban forest and natural areas, from parks to backyards. Kathryn shares how to identify our highest value old growth forest remnants—which might be closer than you think—and discusses ways to protect our high value natural landscapes and native species amid the building trends affecting our landscapes today. Kathryn leads walks and outings in natural areas in metro Atlanta, Georgia and the Southeast. She also takes botanical inventories and creates forest restoration plans for parks and greenspaces. Additionally, she designs and leads EcoAddendum’s EcoSteward classes and volunteer programs for municipalities and neighborhood groups. GCMGA meetings are free and open to the public. If you would like to join us for dinner, please come at 6:30 and bring a dish to share.
